Seppelt launches a new range of sparkling wines

Seppelt is launching a new range of sparkling wines that pays homage to Charles Pierlot, the Champagne winemaker who pioneered the production of sparkling wines using the traditional Australian method at Seppelt.

Pierlot by Seppelt offers a Brut Cuvée and a Brut Rosé, which were crafted by Seppelt’s winemaking team, led by Clare Dry.

“We are proud to launch Pierlot by Seppelt, a series of wines that honor our past and help celebrate the future,” says Dry. “These wines are an elegant tribute to our sparkling roots and pair perfectly with food, friends and celebrations.

“It’s nice to create two premier styles of wine bearing the name of Charles Pierlot – a gentleman who was instrumental in establishing Seppelt’s reputation for making quality traditional method wines. “

Composed of classic sparkling varietals; pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier, the new releases feature fruit from the cool climate region of Henty in Victoria.

Dry added: “The majority of the grapes in this range come from our Drumborg vineyard – a special site first planted in 1964, with the primary purpose of producing world-class sparkling wines.”

Both varietals are described as “elegant and delicate”, with tasting notes for the Cuvée Brut describing “notes of lemon curd, crisp green apple and freshly baked brioche”, while the Brut Rosé demonstrates “notes delicate strawberry and red apple crunch with creamy lees texture”.

To celebrate the release, racing fans at this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival will be among the first to taste the wines, with Pierlot by Seppelt available in all Victoria Racing Club bars and restaurants. A Pierlot by Seppelt bar will also appear within the park grounds at Flemington Racecourse from October 29 to November 5.

Pierlot by Seppelt wines are available now at RRP $30.
