Port Adelaide vs Adelaide, Showdown, Ollie Wines commentary, rivalry, club title, video

Port Adelaide players launched scathing verbal attacks on long distance rivals Adelaide Crows ahead of a season-ending showdown.

The Power and the Crows both come into Showdown LII in good shape, but there’s plenty to play for in Port Adelaide even if the finals are out of reach.

Robbie Gray will play his 271st and final AFL game after announcing his retirement this week, while teammate Darcy Byrne-Jones will play his 150th AFL game.

Speaking on Channel 7, Brownlow medalist Ollie Wines didn’t mince words when asked about the rivalry with the Crows.

“There are some things about this football club that I don’t like,” he said.

“It’s just the DNA of the club and what it does, and the sense of entitlement it has.

“I’m proud of my football club and we’re going to do everything we can to bring them down.”

Bryne-Jones was equally scathing about the Crows.

“Obviously there’s a big rivalry there,” he said.

“Personally, I don’t blame them as people. But as a club, I don’t really like their club – that’s a pretty simple answer.”

Port Adelaide currently lead the head-to-head between the teams, winning 26 of the teams’ 51 encounters.
